30.00

This is beautiful handwoven cotton fabric from Eastern China. This fabric comes from a rural area outside Shanghai where there was a tradition of presenting newly married couple with handmade fabric for their new home. This fabric was woven on a small manual handloom using hand spun thread. Often this fabric was stored as a keepsake and never used. The fabric has been dyed with indigo and other natural plant dyes. The makeup of the fabric is cotton. The colors are vibrant and the fabric is in great shape with a nice medium weight. This would be a great fabric to use for sewing projects, household textiles like towels or napkins, or even as a beautiful scarf. 36 x 15.5 inches.
